Dorset Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited, has scooped the prestigious Developing Talent Award at the Dorset Business Awards 2018, held on 1stNovember at the Windsor Hall, Bournemouth International Centre.
The Developing Talent Award celebrates an employer who is proactive and engaged in attracting, retaining and developing people within its organisation. During the last few years talent has become a high priority agenda item in boardrooms across the UK and employers must find innovation in how they attract, identify, develop and retain talent. Providing competitive advantage for businesses in many sectors, a company’s employees are often its biggest USP.
Maria Seabright, HR director and finance director at Greendale Construction said: “Attracting, developing and retaining talented people is at the heart of the Greendale ethos. We are keenly aware that procuring skilled, dedicated and driven individuals into the business, and then maintaining that enthusiasm, commitment and loyalty, is key to the growth of not only our company, but the construction industry as a whole. Our business plan is drawn up with direct consultation with our staff and we hold regular presentations to include and encourage staff at all levels so as they can see that the business has direction and that they have a career path within that plan. We are open about our strategy for growth and listen to our people to gain their valuable input.
“Winning the Dorset Business Award for Developing Talent is an honour as it shows our commitment and dedication to our team has not only been recognised, but also hopefully by drawing attention to our staff development strategy, other companies will see the benefits in employee satisfaction and how that positively affects all aspects of the company.”
