News Submission Guidelines

Before You Submit

Please read these guidelines carefully before sending your news piece. Submissions that don’t meet the requirements below will be returned for revision before publishing.

Content & Copy

  • Written copy should be ready to publish — proofread, spell-checked and formatted before submission. We do not rewrite or edit submissions on your behalf.
  • Use clear, professional language appropriate for a business audience.
  • Avoid excessive jargon or overly promotional language — news pieces should inform, not advertise.
  • Structure your piece with a clear opening that summarises the story, followed by supporting detail.
  • There is no strict word count, but most news pieces work well between 150–400 words.
  • Do not include HTML, special formatting or styled text — plain text only.

Images

  • At least one image is required with every submission.
  • Images must be supplied at a 1:1 aspect ratio (square). If you’re unsure how to crop, most phones and photo editing tools have a square crop option.
  • Images should be high quality — clear, well-lit and in focus. Blurry or pixelated images will be rejected.
  • Logos alone are not acceptable as a featured image. If no other image is available, a logo may be included within the body of the piece, but a contextual image must still be provided.
  • The image should relate directly to the story — a photo of your team, a project, an event or a location relevant to the piece is ideal.
  • Phone photos are absolutely fine, provided they are clear and relevant.
  • Ask yourself: does this image help the reader understand the story? If not, find a better one.

How to Submit

  1. Email your submission to info@bpa-online.co.uk
  2. Use the subject line: News Submission — [Your Company Name]
  3. Attach your image as a separate file (JPG or PNG, minimum 1000px wide)
  4. Include your copy in the body of the email or as a plain text document — not a Word document with heavy formatting
  5. Include your preferred publication date if relevant, otherwise we will publish at the next available opportunity

  • If your submission meets the guidelines it will be scheduled for publication
