Greendale Construction commences accessibility and decarbonisation works at Poole Museum.
Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited has commenced work on the Salix Project at Poole Museum which will see the refurbishment of the Victorian grain warehouse, Oakley’s Mill, and the grade 1 listed Wool Hall. With this phase of the wider conservation and restoration project of Poole Museum due for completion in December 2022, the work will include the supply and installation of new windows and external door, solar panels and upgraded insulation to the roof, external redecoration and internal wall linings to the 4th floor of the main building and Wool Hall; an historically important medieval port building. A new dormer will be installed to enable a new lift, along with new rooflights and external works around Wool Hall.
Rob Hooker, Director, Greendale Construction Limited commented: “Greendale is delighted to be working with Poole Museum on this important project which will not only make this popular museum more inclusive and accessible for all, but also further reduce the building’s carbon footprint through insulating and upgrading areas of Oakley’s Mill and Wool Hall.”
Cllr Beverley Dunlop , Cabinet Member for Tourism, Culture and Vibrant Places said: “The redevelopment of Poole Museum is a major project to conserve, restore, open up and share Poole’s incredible historic buildings, collections, and stories to more people than ever before. Many local residents and community groups have already been involved in shaping future plans and there are plenty of exciting opportunities for people to get involved and play a part.”
