Greendale Near Completion at St James' Road Methodist Church
Greendale Construction is nearing completion of major improvement works at St James’ Road Methodist Church, Shirley, Southampton. The popular community church has benefitted from a number of alterations carried out by Greendale, including alterations to form a platform lift which will provide disabled access to the existing first floor, including a new disabled WC and reconfiguration of the first floor accommodation. Two meeting rooms are being combined to form one large meeting room, and the toilets. The current kitchen/meeting room is being altered to create a larger kitchen with a servery to the upper hall and a small meeting room.
The ‘welcome area’ foyer has been extended with a new pitched and flat roof. Two new toilets will also be accessed from the foyer. Further alterations involve the nursery area being reconfigured and refurbished with new toilets, and the windows and doors altered for the new extension.
Andy Musselwhite, Greendale Director based at the firm’s Winchester Office, commented: “The facilities at St James’ Road Methodist Church have been immensely improved by the works; both on a practical and aesthetic level. Working in sections and sequentially was a key part to keeping the running of the Church, hall and other spaces open for use by its parishioners and visitors.”
