Property tax specialist saves clients more than £170 million
A Hampshire firm of property tax specialists which this year is celebrating its 15th anniversary has generated more than £170 million of tax savings for clients since it was founded.
Southampton-based E3 Consulting achieved this staggering amount while advising clients on more than £1.9 billion of project expenditures.
Managing director Alun Oliver shared the figure at a celebratory reception for clients, professional contacts, suppliers and staff in Eastleigh’s world renowned Jazz venue The Concorde Club.
He said: “Over the last two years alone our team has reviewed nearly £400 million of project values and saved our clients approximately £18 million.”
“Some of our more unique projects have included the Porsche Driver Experience Centre at Silverstone and the iconic Piccadilly Lights advertising space in central London for LandSec.
“We have also worked on a range of specialist logistics warehouses up and down the country and a tank farm for brewers Fullers Smith & Turner.”
Other projects have included, amongst others, visitor attractions, sports stadia, car dealerships, care homes, student halls of residence, retail outlets and supermarkets.
E3 Consulting, headquartered in Ocean Village and with another office in London, is an award winning independent property tax practice specialising in capital allowances, land remediation tax relief and VAT on real estate; advises clients throughout the UK.
Alun, who founded the firm in 2003, added: “Our principal service is of capital allowances, but we additionally advise upon repairs and maintenance, land remediation, tax relief and VAT on property expenditure.
“We also have a growing service helping developers and home owners understand CIL – the Community Infrastructure Levy – and where possible how to mitigate or validate the CIL charges due on new housing projects.”
Director and co-founder, Nicky Oliver, spoke of the community, charity and mentoring aspects of life at E3 Consulting, and stated the ethos of the firm has always been to build and sustain long-term relationships with clients, project teams and the wider business community.
She said: “It is in that way that we can face our challenge of competing with the large global corporates in our industry. It may be a cliché but also true – that ‘people buy people’ and we must continue to be innovative, outward and engaging to succeed.”
A key philosophy behind their work is the collaborative style and approach E3 employs; ensuring every team member has an impact on all their commercial outcomes.
The firm develops strong client relationships that result in high retention; with over 60 per cent of projects derived from existing clients.
Nicky added: “As a business we have always encouraged our staff to broaden their horizons and gain additional skills and experiences. Marketing and HR Executive Zoe Toseland and Property Tax Surveyor Todd Arnison, both currently undertaking degree apprenticeships, have established proactive and strong working relationships with Solent University and the University of Portsmouth, respectively.
“There are also excellent contributions in both their studies and wider commercial awareness – Zoe achieving first class honours and Todd averaging 95 per cent this year!
“All the team regularly attend a variety of networking groups and virtually all have been involved in mentoring students from central London and regional universities – City & Greenwich, as well as Solent, Southampton and Reading – and local schools
“E3 has mentored more than 25 students, helping them transition from academia to the world of work. That also excludes countless work experiences, internships and placement year students too.
“Our team gain valuable skills from engaging with these mentees, interns and local charities; that in turn underpin our business relationships with suppliers, gatekeepers and clients.”
E3 Consulting toasted their guests and looked forward to the ‘next 15 years’ of helping their clients manage and optimise their available tax breaks from their property expenditure.
They will be hosting further events in London and Dorset later in the year to celebrate with those clients and contacts unable to attend at the Concorde Club.
